Hanover Tavern is listed on the National Register as a contributing property in the Hanover Courthouse Historic District. Located 15 miles north of Richmond, VA on US 301, the complex is a rare surviving example of the county government building sets once common in Virginia.
Since 1791, Hanover Tavern has left its impression in history and now serves as a site for future commitments. The Tavern’s illustrious life includes many roles – inn, stagecoach stop, post office and dinner theater. Now it has new life after a 15-year restoration and preservation project by the Hanover Tavern Foundation, which has worked to make this historic structure’s future worthy of its past.
Today, Hanover Tavern stands fully restored, a historic site worthy of hosting your most important events.
